Republican Rick Blood, a deputy mayor of Mendham Township, New Jersey, is in hot water and was forced to resign Monday, after facing backlash over a Facebook rant he had copied and reposted, which compared illegal aliens to “rabid, messy raccoons.”

Blood has deleted his original post, although other Twitter users have shared screenshots of it.

The Facebook post started out with explaining why President Trump has such a huge following, and appears to have been originally written during the 2016 presidential campaign.

The rant includes the following:

“You’ve been on vacation for two weeks, you come home, and your basement is infested with raccoons. Hundreds of rabid, messing raccoons have overtaken your basement. you want them gone immediately. You call the city, 4 different exterminators, but nobody can handle the job. But there is this one guy and he guarantees you to get rid of them, so you hire him. You don’t care if the guy smells, you don’t care if he guy swears, you don’t care if he’s an alcoholic, you don’t care how many times he’s been married, you don’t care if he voted for Obama, you don’t care if he has a plumber’s crack, you simply want those raccoons gone! You want your problem fixed! He’s the guy. He’s the best. Period!”

The Facebook rant goes on, “We’re sick of politicians, sick of the Democratic Party, Republican Party, and sick of illegals. We just want this thing fixed.”

“Also, we don’t care if the guy has bad hair. We just want those raccoons gone, out of our house. NOW,” it states.

The Hill reported:

During a Township Committee meeting Monday, multiple residents spoke out against Blood’s post.

He apologized during the meeting and called it a “bonehead” decision to post the comments on Facebook.

“I am sincerely sorry for the controversy this has caused, and I take full responsibility for my actions and failures,” Blood said at the meeting Monday night.

Mayor Richard Diegnan Jr. announced Monday night that Blood had submitted his resignation after the council returned from a closed session.
