NY Republican tells Trump to ease up on Tweets

According to a congressman who has served in office for more than 22 years, President Trump should “slow down on some of the tweets and focus on getting the job done.”

Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.) made that statement to New York City radio show host John Catsimatiditis on AM 970 Sunday morning.

King said that he also would like to see Trump stop making “unforced errors” that dominate headlines and cloud his achievements.

“I agree with 90 percent of what he’s doing. But then, maybe slow down on some of the tweets and just focus on getting the job done. The American people agree with what he wants to do. They want stronger anti-terrorism measures; they want to have more secure borders; they want lower taxes; they want to rebuild the infrastructure.”

Rep. King also broached the subject of an Obamacare repeal while on the morning talk show, saying that although some lawmakers and the White House want to repeal it quickly, the plan needs to be implemented gradually to ensure it works properly.

“What we want to do is make sure we transition for a number of years so those people [insured under the ACA’s Medicaid expansion] won’t be affected, and then they will be able to smoothly transition into a new system. If not, we could have passed something overnight.”
