“Innocent people died on Tuesday in NYC because the United States has a failed immigration system that permits radical Muslims to enter this county on a daily basis. Fact is, we don’t want these people, and we don’t need these people. Truth is, they offer no value to America whatsoever.” — Dennis Michael Lynch
According to NewJersey.com, the mosque that terror suspect Sayfullo Saipov reportedly attended in New Jersey has been under surveillance by the New York Police Department for the past 12 years.
Not far from Saipov’s home in Patterson, N.J. is the Omar Mosque. It is just one of many mosques in the New York metro area being studied by the NYPD as possible locations for “budding terrorist conspiracies,” reports NJ.com
A police report from 2006 doesn’t link any criminal activity to the mosque, but says it “is believed to have been the subject of federal investigations.”
In the wake of Tuesday’s deadly truck attack that left eight people dead and at least 11 others injured in Lower Manhattan, police and the FBI swarmed areas in New Jersey with which Saipov was believed to have ties. They included the mosque, an apartment building, and other residences and storefronts.
Saipov, 29, is an Uzbek national living in the United States since 2010. Prior to living in New Jersey, he lived in Florida.
The radical Muslim rented a truck from Home Depot on Tuesday and used it to mow down innocent people traveling on a bike path along the West Side Highway. Eyewitnesses claim the Muslim man shouted “Allahu akbar” (God is great) and pledged allegiance to ISIS as he ran the streets after his rental truck slammed into a school bus.
Slavo Petrov, a 64-year-old neighbor of Saipov, said he saw the man in the area with his wife and two children, and noticed him going to the local mosque.
He described Saipov as unfriendly, adding that he “never says good morning and never says good afternoon,” NJ.com reported.
Saipov, who is not a U.S. citizen, is originally from Uzbekistan, a former Soviet Republic east of the Caspian Sea in Central Asia.
