NYPD – FDNY Charity Football Game Ends in BRAWL

It was the NYPD’s Finest against the FDNY’s Bravest, at MCU Park on Coney Island Sunday, but the last five minutes of the charity game are something they’d all like to forget.

NYPD was in the lead 29-13 when a violent skirmish broke out among the players that left one firefighter with blood streaming down his face and another who was “laid out”.

While yelling and screaming curses at one another, a second fight broke out, before the teams finally separated, as the announcer reminded them they were taking part in a charity event.    Officials let the clock run out without resuming the game.

There to witness the melee were New York Giants running back Shane Vereen, Jets quarterback Bryce Petty and his former teammate QB Ryan Fitzpatrick, reports the NY Post.

No serious injuries were reported, and a police official said the scuffle is “part of the spirit of the sport, but it all ends on the field.”
