Obama bashes Trump for “isolationism”

While President Trump meets with world leaders on their own turf during his first trip abroad as POTUS, former President Barack Obama has embarked on his own European tour, showing up in Berlin on Thursday along with his “favorite” European leader Angela Merkel and referencing the word “wall” in such a way as to leave no doubt that he’s really slamming Trump.

Unlike his previous apology tours, Obama is now on a back-against-the-wall tour, stating, “In this new world we live in, we can’t isolate ourselves. We can’t hide behind a wall.”

Obama’s comments came just hours before Trump planned to meet NATO and other European leaders in Brussels, Belgium, and Merkel is scheduled to have dinner with Trump later that night.

“If I become so convinced that ‘I’m always right,’” Obama told the audience, “the logical conclusion of that often ends up being great cruelty and great violence.”

It’s been reported that Obama was invited by Merkel to attend the event, which was sponsored by the Protestant church. Media sources are saying that he received a “rock star” welcome from the Germans even as they seek ways to downplay the fact that President Trump and his wife are being treated by world leaders like visiting royalty.
