President Obama’s reign in the White House comes to an end in one month, so preparations have gone under way to relocate the Obama family to a $5.3million home in Kalorama, one of Washington DC’s most elegant neighborhoods. Top-level renovations and modifications to his new home have begun, with plans to upgrade the security system and transform the garage into a home office.
The home will contain an upgraded electrical system, as well as a cat walk over one staircase. Conveniently, the home is located close to the Sidwell Friends School, that way 15-year-old Sasha Obama can finish out high school.
Contractors have been around-the-clock at work, with a dumpster, excavator, and tent pitched outside the luxurious home. Along with the contractors are teams of Secret Service agents, who will provide security at the home and to the Obama family following the transitioning of powers to President-elect Donald Trump.
There’s already an upstairs office, but considering the addition of another office above the garage, it’s suggestive that both Barack and Michelle Obama plan to continue some path of political activities. After Trump’s election win, Obama made a foretelling speech to his allied organization Organizing for Action, a group that supports and relishes his policies and presidency:
“I’m going to be constrained with what I do with all of you until I am again a private citizen. But that’s not so far off. You’re going to see me early next year and we’re going to be in a position where we can start cooking up all kinds of great stuff to do.”
