Obama responds to student marches in cryptic tweet

Former president Barack Obama, who has repeatedly called for young people to “organize and resist,” sent out a statement on Twitter Thursday morning, in response to the student marches and protests that have taken place after the deadly mass shooting at a Florida high school.

The “community organizer” who later became president of the United States let the students know in a cryptic tweet that “we’ve been waiting for you.”

It has been noted by several on the conservative side that, instead of letting the students organize themselves, leftist groups, including the “Women’s March” have seized the opportunity to organize the students’ efforts themselves.

Obama tweeted:

Young people have helped lead all our great movements. How inspiring to see it again in so many smart, fearless students standing up for their right to be safe; marching and organizing to remake the world as it should be. We’ve been waiting for you. And we’ve got your backs.
