Obama or Trump: Gallup Reveals “Most Admired Man of 2016” Winner

Gallup released its annual “Most Admired Persons” lists for 2016. The candidates of this year’s “Most Admired Man of 2016” included President-elect Donald Trump, President Barack Obama, Pope Francis, Bernie Sanders, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the Dalai Lama, former President Bill Clinton, Bill Gates, Vice President-elect Mike Pence, retired Dr. Ben Carson, Stephen Hawking, Warren Buffett and Vice President Joe Biden.

The overall winner of this year’s poll was President Obama, who garnered 22% of the vote. Trump came in second place at 15%. This marks the ninth consecutive year Obama has won. His highest score was back in 2012 at 30%. For Trump, he is up 5 more percentage points this time around than last year’s results.

As for “Most Admired Woman of 2016,” former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton snagged the win at 12%. This is Clinton’s 15th consecutive win on the Gallup poll. Trailing behind her was First Lady Michelle Obama at 8%. German Chancellor Angela Merkel and Oprah Winfrey were also candidates in this category.

According to Gallup:

The poll was based on cellphone and landline telephone interviews conducted Dec. 7-11, 2016, with a random sample of 1,028 adults, aged 18 and older, living in all 50 U.S. states and the District of Columbia.
