Obama: Voter Fraud is “Fake News”

At his final press conference on Wednesday, President Obama claimed “this whole notion of voting fraud, this is something that has constantly been disproved.”

He went on to call voter fraud fake news.

Obama made his feelings known about what he thinks really caused the voting problems in this country:

“There are a lot of people in the country who are eligible to vote but don’t cast their ballots. The U.S. is the only country in the advanced world that makes it harder to vote rather than easier and that dates back to an ugly history that we should not be shy talking about.  The reason that we are the only country among advanced democracies that makes it harder to vote traces directly back to Jim Crow and the legacy of slavery — and it became sort of acceptable to restrict the franchise.”

Obama said, “That’s not who we are, and that shouldn’t be who we are. That’s not when America works best.”

Obama stressed that America should be making it easier to vote than it already is and said, “The idea that we put in place a whole bunch of barriers to people voting doesn’t make sense.”
