On Thursday, the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) finalized a joint report regarding the federal investigation into the Russian government hacking Democratic Party organizations. The report is titled “Joint Analysis Report” (JAR) and refers to the Russian hacking campaign as “Grizzly Steppe.”
The 13-page report provides insight on the technical details of Russia’s capabilities in hacking. It outlines the tools used by Russian civilian and military intelligence services to “compromise and exploit networks and endpoints associated with the U.S. election, as well as a range of U.S. Government, political, and private sector entities.”
Despite not mentioning them by name, the document does make clear reference to the Democratic National Committee (DNC) and Hillary Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta as victims of the hacking.
