On Friday, MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell falsely accused Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., of characterizing the chief allegation of sexual misconduct leveled against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh as “ garbage.” Graham did nothing of the sort.
Kavanaugh has been accused of committing various acts of sexual violence against various women. On Thursday, both the judge and his first accuser, Christine Blasey Ford, appeared before Congress to offer testimony regarding her claim he tried to rape her when they were both in high school.
The article goes on to state the following:
Graham has been particularly angry with the lawmakers who’ve taken seriously the especially absurd and unbelievable allegation that Kavanaugh participated in gang rapes when he was just 15 years old. This specific allegation would have to implicate literally dozens of persons if true. Yet the people making this claim have so far offered not a single witness to corroborate the story.
“Six FBI investigations and we missed the sophomore, junior gang rapist? We didn’t miss it. It’s a bunch of garbage,” the senator said Friday during a committee hearing on whether to vote to move Kavanaugh’s confirmation to the full U.S. Senate for a final vote
Adams says it’s clear Graham was talking about “the outlandish gang-rape allegation,” and not Ford’s allegation.
