According to Euro News, the star of an Iranian film nominated for an Oscar this year has said she will boycott next month’s Academy Awards ceremony in Hollywood. The boycott is a sign of protest against President Trump’s executive order that prevents refugees to enter the U.S. from seven Muslim nations (see list of nations).

Taraneh Alidoosti, 33, is from Tehran.  She describes President Trump’s executive order as “racist.”

The film she stars in is called “The Salesman.” In the film Alidoosti plays one half of an Iranian couple whose life becomes strained as they take part in the American stage classic “Death of a Salesman”.
