A group of Pakistanis are currently under criminal investigation for security breaches while working on the computer network for several House Democrats. However, they have now abruptly pulled their children out of their schools, moved out of their homes, and one has fled to their home country of Pakistan.

Although the criminal investigation is still ongoing, no arrests have been made in the scandal.

In March, we released the list of the 31 Democrats in the House of Representatives (including Debbie Wasserman Schultz) who have jointly paid at least $4 million to five Pakistanis – all members of the same family – to work as IT employees since July 2009.

The three Awan brothers, Imran, Abid and Jamal, and two of their wives, Hina Alvi and Natalia Sova, were among the highest-paid House staffers, and had full, unrestricted access to members’ correspondence, emails and confidential files.

Among the Democrats who hired them are members of the House Committee on Homeland Security, the Committee on Foreign Affairs and the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.

They even had the password for an iPad used by Wasserman Schultz, who was the DNC Chairwoman at the time. Imran Awan has worked for her since 2005.

The Awans are reportedly being investigated for “stealing equipment from members’ offices without their knowledge, and committing serious, potentially illegal, violations on the House IT network.”

The Daily Caller has now reported that the Awans have suddenly moved from their homes in Lorton and Springfield, VA, and pulled their children out of school.   The Lorton house has been listed for sale, as well as an apartment owned by Hina.

The Awans’ stepmother, Samina Gilani, who has acted as a whistleblower, has told the Daily Caller that Hina Alvi and her daughters have moved back to Pakistan, which was also confirmed by two other sources close to the family.

Gilani said that the Awan brothers are treated like VIPs in Pakistan, even traveling with a police motorcade when they are there.

Imran Awan reportedly told a neighbor, when moving out of their 3,200 square foot home in Lorton, that he was moving into his deceased father’s home in Springfield.   His brother, Abid Awan, also moved into the father’s home with his wife and children.

Gilani lived in the home with the father until his death, then she reportedly fled after the three sons threatened her.

The family also reportedly owns rental property.  A tenant of one property owned by Hina said she has not even picked up rent and won’t return phone calls.  Since she has now gone back to Pakistan, Imran has instructed the renters to give the rent payment to a realtor.
