Kids moved up in life… and the parents moved down.
While excited kindergarten graduates in light blue caps and gowns received their diplomas and moved up to the next phase in life, a group of six parents moved down a notch, acting like children, in a brawl over the best spot to take photos of their little ones.
The kindergarten graduation was underway at Public School 178 St Claire McKelway School in the Crown Heights area of Brooklyn Friday morning, when six parents standing in the back of the auditorium starting yelling, pushing and hitting each other, reported the New York Post.
School officials had already warned parents in advance to keep the photo-taking to a minimum.
Mrs. Nelson, a school aid, tried to break up the fight and was hit in the process. “I can’t believe it,” Nelson said. “All of this for a picture?”
One parent, Estelle Smith, 41, whose 6-year-old daughter was one of the graduates, said she saw the fight start. “They were just fighting, trying to take pictures of their children,” she said. “Why would you start a brawl in front of the children?”
The little graduates were occupied getting ready to receive their certificates when it all started.
Police were called, the fighting parents were kicked out, losing their photo opportunity completely, and the graduation continued.
