A New York City man was found dead in a Bronx area bay around 9:30 am on Thursday. Police say the man is a pastor at a local church. He was found with a dumbbell tied around his neck near the docks at the Evers Marina. His death is being ruled a suicide.
The body has been identified as 61-year-old Amaurys Mella, and the marina is located down the street from both his home, and the offices of Letting Christ Be Known Church where he was a pastor.
An autopsy has yet to be conducted, but investigators are suggesting suicide because there was a suicide note in Mella’s car, and due to statements from family members who say he had been a victim of depression.
