House Speaker Paul Ryan appeared on Fox News last night to comment about a leaked audio file of him criticizing President Trump during the presidential election and campaign.

The audio file recently released by Breitbart reveals Ryan stating in a private conference call last October that he is “not going to defend Donald Trump — not now, not in the future.”

According to Ryan, the leaked audio is “ancient history” and is not illustrative of his and Trump’s relationship today.

“Look, it’s no secret that the president and I had our ups and downs during the campaign, but we merged forces at the end of the campaign,” Ryan claimed.

The recorded file with House Republicans followed the intense media coverage of a dated video having surfaced wherein Trump claimed to have groped women.
