A wax figure of Beyoncé at Madame Tussauds New York was unexpectedly taken down earlier this week, to the chagrin of many fans, only to return with a new look Friday morning.
The bleached blond wax figure had been criticized for appearing too similar to other white pop stars like Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, and Kaley Cuoco.
When the museum said that it would be “taken down until further notice,” some worried it meant the end of the model for good. But adjustments were in order.
The museum told the New York Daily News that they “adjusted the lighting and styling of her figure.”
Earlier in the week, they justified criticism that they were dishonestly portraying Beyoncé by saying her figure looked different due to the “lighting,” which “may distort and misrepresent the color of our wax figures.”
