On Tuesday, Philadelphia’s top prosecutor, Democratic District Attorney Seth Williams was indicted on corruption charges for receiving more than $160,000 in luxury gifts, Caribbean trips and cash in exchange for political favors.

The prosecutor had been under investigation for the past two years and was ultimately charged with under-the-table crimes.

Williams’ grand total collection of prohibited gifts and monetary benefits resulted in the Philadelphia Board of Ethics to implement its largest fine ever on the district attorney: $62,000.

The unauthorized benefits Williams received included the use of a presidential suite during a visit with his girlfriend to the Punta Cana resort in the Dominican Republic, a $3,400 sofa, and a used Jaguar convertible. In one incident, he received $7,000 for helping a business owner-associate bypass airport screenings during travels to foreign countries.

“Investigators began looking into Williams’ personal and political finances in August 2015, finding a series of ethics violations, including failure to disclose $160,500 in gifts and income,” a CBS News report states. “That amount included home repairs worth $45,000.”

Williams claims he’s been experiencing financial issues following a divorce and due to maintaining his daughters’ stay at a private school with a pricey tuition. However, Williams earns $175,000 a year as a district attorney.

Following the charges brought against Williams, the prosecutor announced he will not be seeking a third term come next election cycle. Monies owed by Williams to the Board of Ethics is expected to increase if more violations are unearthed in the investigation.
