According to a report in the Washington Examiner, former Playboy model Karen McDougal claims that she had an extramarital affair with Donald Trump. On Tuesday, she sued to be released from a 2016 legal agreement requiring her silence about the matter.
From the Examiner: McDougal is suing a group close to Trump, American Media Inc., the parent company of the National Enquirer that paid her $150,000 for exclusive rights to her story and never published it, the New York Times reported.
The Playboy model is the second woman to have had an alleged affair with President Trump who is now suing to be released from a contract. Both McDougal and former porn star Stormy Daniels say the agreement requiring the disputes between the parties be resolved in secret arbitration rather than in public court proceedings is invalid.
In the lawsuit, McDougal claims Trump’s personal lawyer, Michael Cohen, was secretly involved with AMI’s payment agreement for her story and misled her in the deal.
“The lawsuit filed today aims to restore her right to her own voice,” McDougal’s new lawyer Peter Stris said. “We intend to invalidate the so-called contract that American Media Inc. imposed on Karen so she can move forward with the private life she deserves.”
