It’s widely known that President Trump loves to tout the number of people who attend his rallies.  It’s also widely known that he doesn’t like it when the media doesn’t pan the camera to show the size of the crowd.

Crowd size.  Why does it feel like an endless debate?  Trump says its one number, the media claims it’s a lesser number, and the rest of us wonder why it’s a debate.   Does it matter if it’s 10,000 or 8,000, or 30,000?  I say we focus on what’s important!  Crowd size is not important.

But lets assume I am wrong.  Lets say crowd size does matter.   Well, good news is there needs to be no debate about how many people attended President Trump’s rally in Melbourne, Florida on Saturday.

Nobody has to rely on the media’s number, and President Trump can focus on bigger and more important things. Reason being is the local police confirmed the number of people who attended his rally.   According to the police, the president drew a crowd of 9,000 people.  In other words, a lot of people showed up to support Donald J. Trump!

“All attendees now in the AeroMod hangar for the @realDonaldTrump rally. Total attendees at event = 9,000,” Melbourne Police tweeted.

“Do you think that one media group, that one network back there will show this crowd? Not One,” Trump said at the outset of his rally.  Unfortunately, this is one time when the president is wrong.   Some networks did show the crowd size minutes before the president took to the podium.

Nevertheless, the media is obsessed with debating the president about the number of people who support him.  They do this because they believe it gets under his skin.  For example, read this excerpt from TheHill.com:

“Trump held an identical campaign event at this airport hangar during the general election in September. According to reports, 15,000 people attempted to attend the September rally, but some were turned away.”

Seriously, who cares?  I don’t.   I suggest the press gets back to reporting the real news, and lets get DC solving the bigger problems facing America than trying to calculate how many people attended a political rally.
