POLL: Should all Americans stand for the national anthem?

Written by DML

I took to Facebook LIVE late last night after watching a CNN town hall where the discussion was supposed to be about “patriotism” and standing for the national anthem. But what it turned out to be was a chance for filmmaker Spike Lee to disrespect President Trump, insult a Gold Star family, and push the narrative that NFL players should be taking a knee.

I never watch CNN, and now I know why.

But last night, during the Walk & Talk, I pointed out the danger in the message touted on CNN. Although his show comes in last-place when measured by cable news TV ratings, Anderson Cooper will reach more people today than Hannity and Rachel Maddow combined.  I say this because CNN’s digital footprint is three times the size of Fox News and MSNBC. Therefore, Spike Lee’s message will be blasting throughout the web and in every major airport as the clips from last night’s show play over and over again.

We should all believe in the First Amendment and the freedom of speech. But smart people realize the First Amendment isn’t free, meaning, men and women have died, and continue to die, for the right to speak freely.

The NFL players’ protest by taking a knee during the national anthem has caught fire. Groups, organizations, and individuals from all over the country are latching onto it. My fear is that kneeling for the anthem becomes a major movement. EXAMPLE: Today, on DennisMichaelLynch.com, we are reporting the story of a pee-wee football league in Texas, of all places, which is no longer playing the national anthem before games.

I’d like to start a movement of OUR own. The word “OUR” represents all Americans who believe in standing for the national anthem NO MATTER WHAT cause you believe in or don’t believe in. Therefore, although simple at its core, I’ve designed a bumper sticker that declares, “I STAND FOR MY FLAG.”

I used the term “MY FLAG” instead of “THE FLAG” because you own the American Flag. Your parents, children, and great-grandparents own the American Flag. You fought for it, your taxes continue to pay for its protections, and by golly, it is your flag to love and defend. No person should be permitted to disrespect it without a fight.

I ask you to join our bumper stick movement. We are using the net profits to run ads to sell more bumper stickers. My hope is to raise enough money to start running TV commercials on CNN and football networks declaring the bumper sticker movement. YOU CAN JOIN OUR MOVEMENT by CLICKING HERE for the bumper sticker. In just a few hours, we’ve already sold 4,500 bumper stickers.

My question to you today is: If physically able, “should every American stand for the national anthem?”
