Priebus handed over his resignation to the president Thursday night after a blistering set of insults about him were made by White House Communications Director, Anthony Scaramucci.
The comments were made to a liberal writer Wednesday evening. The writer then published the nasty remarks in The New Yorker on Thursday afternoon. This all led to Priebus stepping down from his role in the White House.
Priebus was immediately replaced today by DHS Sec. Kelly who takes over as chief of staff Monday.
Kelly is a 4 star retired general.
Before his new appointment to chief of staff, he was the DHS secretary.
With illegal immigration being such a huge problem, Kelly had his work cut out for him. But in the six months he held the job he was sensational. The border is much more secure, and the morale at US Customs and Border Protection is up. Quoting Dennis Michael Lynch from his op-ed last from Friday evening, “Kelly was kicking butt and taking names at the border.”
As DML pointed out, the DHS suffered through 8 years of pure hell under Obama, and just when Sec. Kelly is getting everything under control and working correctly, Trump pulls him off the line to manage the White House staff? DML, who is a huge fan of Kelly’s, did not want to see him pulled from his position at DHS.
