On Tuesday, the World Health Organization released updated numbers on the deadly coronavirus outbreak, announcing 72,528 total cases of coronavirus in China, including 1,870 deaths.
China reported 1,891 new cases within the past 24 hours.
A total of 8 frontline healthcare workers in China have died from the virus, including Liu Zhiming, 51, a neurologist who was the director of Wuchang Hospital in Wuhan.
In addition to China, 804 cases of the virus have been reported in 25 other countries, with three deaths.
On Monday, the U.S. government evacuated 328 Americans from Japan, who had been quarantined on the Diamond Princess Cruise Ship. A total of 14 of those Americans were discovered to be infected with the virus, and were sent to hospitals in California and Omaha, Nebraska for treatment.
There were already 15 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the US, and the 14 new arrivals brings the total to 29.
