If you think back to the Charlottesville, Virginia, event, the violence erupted when the alt-left engaged with Unite the Right protesters. Had they not started with the hitting, spitting, and ripping at signs and flags, the deadly events of that day probably would not have happened.

I’ll be the first to hammer down on racism of any sort, and I think the KKK and white supremacists are idiots, but I have been to my share of rallies as a videographer, and the violence never breaks out until someone from outside the protest — usually someone from the left — antagonizes the situation.

But for all the left-wing protests I have seen, either on TV or in person, it has only been a small handful of times when a right-winger, or a group of right-wingers, will try to start a fight. If and when they do, the cops crack down on them immediately, rightfully so, and nothing becomes of it. Thus, the media gets no massive brawls to report, no deaths … nothing!

But, is there a double standard?

On Sunday, left-wing protesters surrounded and attacked at least five right-wing demonstrators in Berkeley, California.

According to Fox News, a “group of more than 100 hooded protesters, with shields emblazoned with the words “no hate” and waving a flag identifying themselves as anarchists, busted through police lines, avoiding security checks by officers to take away possible weapons. Several thousand people had congregated for a ‘Rally Against Hate’ in response to the planned right-wing protest that raised concerns of violence and triggered a massive police presence.”

Busted through police lines? How does that happen?

IProtesters against a scheduled speaking appearance by Breitbart News editor Milo Yiannopoulos on the University of California at Berkeley campus seen on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2017, in Berkeley, Calif. A small group of people with their faces covered broke windows, hurled fireworks at police officers and threw smoke bombs, prompting UC Berkeley officials to cancel Yiannopoulos's talk Wednesday evening. (AP Photo/Ben Margot) am a strong supporter of the police. We try to publish as many pro-cop stories as we can on this website, and it’s important to note that I come from a family full of retired cops. But it seems to me like there is a double standard brewing: I don’t see the cops busting down on alt-left protesters.

On Sunday evening, Berkeley police chief Andrew Greenwood defended how police handled the protest, saying they made a strategic decision to let the anarchists enter to avoid more violence.

Strategic decision? How asinine.

Maybe it’s me, but I believe the cops in many liberal cities are allowing the al-left to run wild. How are groups like Antifa and Black Lives Matter permitted to do whatever they like? Maybe it’s because the cops are from the left, or the top brass in the departments are from the left? Or, is it that they fear lawsuits? I don’t know what it is. Either way, do you agree? Are the police being too easy on the alt-left?
