Since former president Obama left office, there has been a noticeable decline in apprehensions of illegal immigrants at the southern U.S.-Mexico border. Although the Dept. of Homeland Security that the number of illegal aliens crossing over has risen this month over last month, it’s still down considerably from the same time last year.
With the above said, deportations of day laborers and family units here in the U.S. illegally appear to be no different today than they were last year. Mandatory e-verify has yet to be implemented, DACA is still in effect, and there appears to be no sense of urgency by the Trump administration to get either done. At the same time, although it is impossible to be confirmed, speculation is that some illegal aliens are self-deporting out of fear that they will be detained or fined for being here illegally.
Our question to you today is this: Have you seen any significant change in the amount of illegal immigrants in your neighborhood?
