After coming under fire from her fellow Democrats, freshman Congresswoman Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.) issued an “apology” on Wednesday for her recent statements which were consider anti-Semitic.

Omar, a Somalian refugee who immigrated to Minnesota as a teenager, said in her apology that she did not intent to offend her constituents or Jewish Americans, but she refused to back off her criticism against Israel.

President Trump condemned Omar’s comments, saying, “I think she should either resign from Congress or she should certainly resign from the House Foreign Affairs Committee.”

House Minority Whip Steve Scalise also slammed Omar over her anti-Israel stance, saying Tuesday that she should absolutely be removed from the powerful Foreign Relations Committee. He noted that as a member of the committee, Omar “receives classified briefings on foreign policy [including] Israel.”

“No one with her anti-Semitic views should be allowed to represent US foreign policy on that committee,” Scalise said.
