A Wisconsin lawmaker has proposed an idea which will afford both the United States taxpayer and Mexico a reprieve from paying for the southern border wall. Representative Jim Sensenbrenner believes seizing money tied to Mexican drug cartels through a process called civil asset forfeiture will easily foot the bill for the construction of the border.
Some House Judiciary Committee members are saying that the proposal might be an idea people can get behind. While some conservatives are concerned that due process violations would be at play, Sensenbrenner told reporters Tuesday, “This is a way to fulfill the president’s desire to have Mexico pay for the wall.”
