Former National Security Adviser Michael Flynn announced this week that he was willing to speak before the Intelligence Community about Russia and the 2016 presidential election.
Flynn was willing to do so under one condition: that he was granted immunity from prosecution on the matter.
The Senate Intelligence Committee has since denied the request.
At this time, it is not clear why Flynn would be asking for immunity or whether this was coordinated with Trump’s administration.
Six months ago, when interviewed about Hillary Clinton’s email scandal, Flynn made the following statement:
“Five people around her have been given immunity, to include her former chief of staff. When you are given immunity, that means you have probably committed a crime.”
