The impeachment hearing against President Trump took a shocking turn and caused Democrats and the media to explode on Friday, after the president blasted out harsh criticism of former U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Marie Yovanovitch during her testimony before the House Intelligence Committee.

Democrats immediately declared that the president had just committed a crime. House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) then read the tweet to Yovanovitch during the public hearing, and declared,  “Some of us here take witness intimidation very, very seriously.”

Fox News anchor Brett Baier tweeted, “That was a turning point in this hearing so far. She was already a sympathetic witness & the President’s tweet ripping her allowed Schiff to point it out real time characterizing it as witness tampering or intimidation -adding an article of impeachment real-time.”

Former independent counsel Ken Starr described the president’s tweet as a “bad decision.”

“Trump himself is clearly not satisfied with only one article of impeachment. His choice to publicly broadcast his own, personally authored witness intimidation means he’s wants to sign up for another article on obstruction of justice, too,” declared Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.).

Sen. Ted Cruz blasted the criticism of Trump’s tweet, writing, “This may be the single most ridiculous claim of the Dem show trial. No, the President’s tweeting is not ‘witness intimidation.’ You may not like the tone of some or even many of his tweets, but it’s absurd to suggest that tweeting is an impeachable ‘high Crime [or] Misdemeanor.’”

President Trump pushed back on the “witness intimidation” claims, telling reporters, “I have the right to speak. I have freedom of speech just like other people do.”
