President Trump held a joint news conference Thursday with visiting Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni.
“These bonds of history and culture have only grown stronger as our two nations have become close partners, dear friends, and very vital allies,” Trump said.
He said Italy is one of America’s largest trading partners, and “we both seek a trading relationship that is balanced, reciprocal and fair.”
He recognized Italy as a key partner in the fight against terrorism, and said America has over 30,000 service members, families and personnel stationed across Italy.
