I’ll admit, I was confused yesterday. I admit I remain a bit confused today. Was there a terror attack in Sweden that went unreported? Did something happen with refugees in Sweden on Friday that we missed here at DML?
During his speech in Florida on Saturday, the president referred to an incident in Sweden that took place on Friday. However, he did not provide details about the incident.
The president made the comment while he was discussing his temporary immigration ban that was defeated by the courts. He was defending his executive order and the need to keep Americans safe when he started citing examples of terror attacks and incidents that have taken place around the world.
“When you look at what’s happening in Germany… When you look at what’s happening last night in Sweden… Sweden! Who would believe this? Sweden. They took in large numbers, they’re having problems like they never thought possible.”
Here is the video of what Trump said:

I’m in the news business. So, I was asking myself, “Look at what happened last night. Did my writers miss a terror attack in Sweden of some kind?” I started a Google search and nothing came up. I went to the AP and nothing came up.
Then I thought maybe he revealed information only he is privy to and mistakenly blurted it out?
Then it occurred to me what most likely happened. The president was most likely referring to a segment on Tucker Carlson’s show Friday night where a filmmaker showed a clip from Sweden and explained how the country is a mess now that it’s taken in so many migrants who cannot find jobs.
The segment actually aired earlier in the week but was replayed Friday night while Ed Henry was filling in for Carlson.
If the Fox segment didn’t influence the comment, I don’t know what did. If the segment did influence the president’s comment, you can bet every dollar in your pocket that the media will be running with this story all day today.
