President Trump releases statement on son’s email release

Donald Trump Jr. released the full email exchange  Tuesday between himself and Rob Goldstone, who arranged the meeting with a Russian lawyer in June 2016, after the New York Times started leaking out portions of the emails.

President Trump released a statement in response Tuesday afternoon, read by White House deputy press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, at a press briefing.

“My son is a high-quality person and I applaud his transparency,” the president stated.

Sanders would not answer any questions about the emails Trump Jr. had released, but said she had discussed the matter with President Trump within the last 24 hours.

“I think the president is… I would say… frustrated with the process of the fact that this continues to be an issue, and he would love for us to be focused on things like the economy,” she told reporters.

She referred all questions to Trump Jr.’s attorney’s, saying, “I know you guys are going to get tired of it today. On all questions related to this, I would refer you to Don Jr.’s counsel.”
