President Trump Rolls Out Immigration Executive Orders At DHS

President Trump is visiting the Department of Homeland Security Wednesday afternoon.

The President has reportedly signed executive orders on immigration reform just moments before delivering remarks about his plans to roll out reforms on immigration and border security.

Trump said, “We are going to restore the rule of law in the United States.”  He said the Border Patrol hasn’t been allowed to do their jobs, but “that’s all about to change… From here on out, I’m asking all of you to enforce the laws of the United States of America.”

Trump said, “People are surprised to hear that we do not need new laws, but we are going to work within the existing system and framework.”

He recognized Border Patrol leaders Brandon Judd and Chris Crane, and said, “You guys are about to be very busy doing your jobs.”

“A nation without borders is not a nation.  Beginning today, the USA gets back control of its borders, and gets back its borders,” Trump said.

“I just signed two executive orders that will save thousands of lives, millions of jobs, and billions of dollars.   We will be working with our friends in Mexico to improve safety and economic opportunity on both sides of the border.”

“The Secretary of Homeland Security, working with myself and my team, will begin immediate construction of a border wall.  This will also help Mexico by deterring illegal immigration from Central America. “

“We are going to get the bad ones out, the criminals, the drug dealers, the gangs… we are going to get them out fast.”

“Our order ends the policy of “catch and release” at the borders, requires other countries to take back their criminals, cracks down on sanctuary cities, empowers ICE officers to target and remove those who pose a threat to public safety, Trump promised.”

“It calls for the hiring of another 5,000 border patrol officers, and the tripling of the number of ICE officers.  It creates an office of Homeland Security that is dedicated to supporting the victims of illegal immigrant crime.  We hear you, we see you, and you will never, ever be ignored again.  That all turns around, beginning today,” Trump said.

In the audience were parents who lost their children to illegal aliens.   Trump recognized each one and asked them to stand.

The two executive orders signed Wednesday include:

  • Construction of a physical border wall along the southern border.
  • Hire additional Border Patrol agents.
  • More detention space for illegal aliens.
  • Eliminate catch and release policy.
  • Prioritize prosecution of illegal aliens who have committed criminal offences. Once they’ve completed their sentence, they will get a one-way ticket back to their own country.

  • Withhold certain federal funding for sanctuary cities
  • Enhance ICE ability to arrest, detain and remove illegal aliens
  • Give State Dept more tools to repatriate criminal illegal aliens
  • Restore secure communities program – target criminal aliens

The State Department will reportedly withhold VISAs from countries who refuse to take back their illegal aliens.

In an interview with ABC’s David Muir Wednesday morning, President Trump confirmed that Mexico will, indeed, end up paying for the wall, and that construction will start soon.
