President Donald J. Trump’s approval rating is on an uptick, according to a Rasmussen Reports tracking poll released Monday. He currently has a 46 percent approval rating, the poll found, as likely voters indicated approval of Trump’s job performance, compared to 53% who disagreed with that assessment.
According to the latest figures, 30% of those polled Strongly Approve of the way the president is performing, while 44% Strongly Disapprove. This gives him a Presidential Approval Index rating of -14, according to Rasmussen.
According to the site:
The government jobs report for October showed the hurricane-hit U.S. economy rebounding strongly, with the unemployment rate down now to 4.1%, the lowest level since 2000. We’ll tell you at 10:30 how Americans view the job market these days.
Economic confidence remains high. The latest Rasmussen Reports Consumer Spending Update shows that Americans are ready to spend for the holidays.
Interestingly, however, while all these indicators have been rising since Trump’s election, voters are evenly divided over whether the economic boom is due to the new president or his predecessor, Barack Obama.
This latest poll result is Trump’s highest rating since early October, coming as the president continues to push for jobs and tax reform. Currently in Asia on a political tour, President Trump has engaged in trade talks throughout his visit and has indicated that he may have an announcement this week regarding new deals.
“We have deficits with almost everybody. Those deficits are going to be cut very quickly and very substantially,” Trump said.
Rasmussen Reports results are generally more favorable towards the president. The poll compiles tracking data on a full month-by-month basis, using automated telephone polling to collect surveys of 500 likely voters each night. Other polling firms utilize operator-assisted technology. They also use an online survey tool, which selects interviewees randomly from a “demographically diverse panel,” according to the site.
The margin of sampling error for the full sample of 1,500 Likely Voters is +/- 2.5 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence.
