Trump’s Message Needs to Be About the Issues

On the heels of new allegations made by six different women who say Donald Trump groped them, the time for Trump to send a clear message to undecided voters is now.  The message has to be about making America great again, and the message has to be local.

Hillary Clinton, love her or hate her, is a professional politician and understands what works when reaching out to voters.  And that’s why she is going local with her message.  The media constantly captures her visiting small coffee shops, small businesses, and public schools.   She spends most of her time talking about the issues.  Yes, she inserts her knocks on Trump, but they are small, and she uses them to lift her message.  She doesn’t spend 20-minutes spilling poison on Trump’s name.  For that sort of thing she relies on the media and her surrogates.

Trump spoke today in Florida.  He addressed the allegations made against him by saying they are false.  He promised to provide information that discredits the allegations, but did not provide a date.  And then he gave some of his standard bullet points about making America great again.   But he didn’t say anything new — he didn’t give any new details to drive new conversations.  Instead, the majority of his speech is about calling Hillary crooked.  Although true, spending so much time on Hillary does one thing — it takes away from time spent talking about the American people and the issues we face.  He needs to get back to speaking about how his business experience can help Americans prosper.  His speech today is just more of the same, and that’s a mistake.  He needs to spice it up — he needs to go local — but all he is doing is poring gasoline on a raging fire against him.

Dennis Michael Lynch gives a powerful plea for Republican nominee Donald Trump on how to reach more deeply into the daily lives and hearts of American voters.  DML calls for Trump to go local and remain focused on lifting the American people — not slamming down on Republicans and Hillary.
