According to The Associated Press, White House chief of staff Reince Priebus supports President Trump’s decision to name Anthony Scaramucci as communications director.
On Friday, Priebus reportedly said he and Scaramucci are “very good friends,” and said he backs the president’s choice “100 percent.”
Scaramucci, an entrepreneur and Goldman Sachs alumni, has been a longtime supporter of Trump. According to reports, in January, he sold his asset management business, SkyBridge Capital, in preparation for a position in Trump’s White House.
Axios had reported Priebus felt Scaramucci was “woefully unqualified” for the position he was given. He and White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon reportedly advised against the move, as did Sean Spicer.
Within hours of the announcement that Scaramucci would be the communications director, press secretary Sean Spicer announced his resignation. He reportedly feels hiring Scaramucci was a mistake.
After Spicer’s resignation, many wondered if Priebus would be the next senior White House staff member to leave, but Priebus says it’s “all good here” in the White House.
