Clinton and Sanders reach agreement on selection of members to write party platform.

Clinton will select 6 members, Sanders will select 5 members and DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz will appoint 4 members to the committee who will write the Democratic platform for the national convention.

One of Clinton’s appointees has been revealed as Rep. Luis Gutierrez, an Illinois Democrat who has fought for more lenient immigration policies.   He is the only Latino among the 15 people on the committee, reports FOX News Latino.

Gutierrez stated that he is pleased to have a say over the party platform for the first time in his congressional career. “It’s an exciting opportunity,” he said. “I want to give Hillary Clinton the best American platform.”

Gutierrez said he’ll push to make comprehensive immigration reform and a solution to the large number of Central American children who have asylum cases pending a priority on the platform.   Also top priorities he will address are marriage equality, income equality, gun control and Planned Parenthood funding.
