Manhattan — Anti-Donald Trump protesters staged a “cough-in” at Trump International Hotel and Tower Restaurant on Sunday. The protesters obnoxiously cleared their throats and heavily coughed in unison as an act of defiance against Trump’s proposal to repeal and replace Obamacare.
“People are going to die without health care,” said Nancy Brody Brooke, 54, a Brooklyn-based artist who participated in the protest.
The protest was created by the healthcare advocacy group “Rise & Resist.” The 60-year old leader of the group, Mark Minano, handed out signs reading “Trumpcare Makes Us Sick” and “Healthcare is a right” while coughing loudly to disrupt those enjoying lunch in the dining area. The protest was part of a nationwide push to keep Obamacare in place.
The video of the “cough-in” protest can be watched below. The fifteen protesters were eventually escorted out by police officers.
