Russian President Vladimir Putin only had positive things to say following his meeting with President Trump at the G20 Summit, noting Trump on TV “differs from the man in reality.”
“Trump on television very much differs from the man in reality,” Putin said at a press conference, according to a translation by Wall Street Journal reporter Anton Troianovski.
Putin found Trump to be thoughtful in conversation, and listened avidly to what he said.
“He is very concrete, he fully perceives his interlocutor, and he analyzes and answers questions or new elements that come in the course of the discussion quickly enough,” Putin added.
It was a good first impression, one Putin said he believes will lead to a more fruitful relationship between the US and Russia.
All isn’t perfect on the home front however, as Democrats feel Trump let Putin slide without interrogating him about interfering in the 2016 election. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson claims they spoke about it, but Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-NY) referred to the meeting as an “embarrassment to our country and our ideals.”
