Anti-immigrant customers left a nasty note for the Mexican owner of an upscale Italian eatery in one the most affluent enclaves of San Antonio, Texas.
The customers wrote the opinion on their food receipt, praising the food and service before making their displeasure at the fact that the owner of the restaurant is Mexican known:
‘The food was tasty and the service was attentive. However, the owner is “Mexican.” We will not return. “America first”.
The owner of Di Frabo restaurant, Fernando Franco, who originates from Mexico City, said this was the first time he felt unwelcomed in the United States. The note ended with “America First,” President Trump’s campaign slogan.
According to a News 4 report, Franco, who is in the process of obtaining citizenship and has been working in the United States since 2012, doesn’t know who left the message or how they would have known he was the owner.
Franco speculated that the customers might have realized he was Mexican when he spoke Spanish to his restaurant manager and his wife who were eating in the restaurant.
The note on the receipt was posted on social media and Franco has received much support.
Franco plans to put the receipt in a picture frame as “a reminder of the changing politics and attitude of people in America.”
Thank you to everyone who has been showing us so much love and support today. #strongertogether

He said to Texas news station, KENS5: “It’s a feeling that you hear this every day in the news and you see what’s going on … so at the end you start feeling that it’s affecting the people.”
