Gabe Rygaard of the television show Ax Men, 45, was killed in a car crash on Friday near his home in Port Angeles, Washington.
The History Channel star’s white Ford Bronco rear ended another car and then spun out into oncoming traffic. He was driving the bronco behind a black Chevy Tahoe. As it was slowing to a stop, Rygaard veered to the left, striking the side of the vehicle. As a result, the Bronco then rotated and crashed into an oncoming Dodge Ram van in the other lane.
Rygaard was not wearing a seatbelt during the accident, and he was transported to Olympic Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Rygaard is now the third cast member from Ax Men to have died in the last four years. Cast member Jimmy Smith died of cancer in 2012, and William Colantuono died a year later in a helicopter crash.
The reality star leaves behind three children and his wife Katy, who wrote on Facebook the following over the weekend:
“Yesterday I had to say good bye to my best friend, husband & father to my children. This was the hardest thing that I have ever done. Gabe was our rock. I am still having a hard time trying to get words to come out of my mouth, so I will type this. I am overwhelmed with the love that this community is pouring out to our family. People have asked what we need. We would all appreciate a lot of prayer. That is what will get us through this. Thank you and love to you all. Katy.”
