One Olympic athlete is laboring under the impression that President Donald J. Trump is “not her president.” Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn says she will be representing the “people of the United States,” not President Trump, as she competes in the upcoming 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics in South Korea.

Vonn was asked a baited question by CNN‘s Alpine Edge interviewer, who dramatically asked: “You’ve previously competed at three Olympic games under two presidents. How will it feel competing at an Olympic games for a United States whose president is Donald Trump?”

“I hope to represent the people of the United States, not the president,” Vonn replied. “I take the Olympics very seriously and what they mean and what they represent, what walking under our flag means in the opening ceremony. I want to represent our country well, and I don’t think there are a lot of people currently in our government that do that.”

Vonn, who also said she would not accept an invitation to the White House if asked, is an American World Cup Alpine ski racer on the U.S. Ski Team.

Vonn won the gold medal in downhill at the 2010 Winter Olympics, the first American woman to do so. She has also won a record number of titles in the World Cup and is one of six women to have won World Cup races in the five disciplines of alpine skiing: downhill, super-G, giant slalom, slalom, and super combined.

During the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Vonn worked as a correspondent for NBC News due to various injuries, which also prevented her from competing in most of the 2013 skiing competition season.

Despite her insistence otherwise, Vonn will be representing all Americans, including the president of the United States, when she competes at the 2018 games.
