America has serious lack of workers for vocational trades.
CNN is reporting today that America may have too many job openings, but Americans don’t have the skills required to fill the jobs.
If that’s truly the case, let’s do a better job encouraging people to acquire skills instead of only a degree! True, a college degree is necessary and right for many people, but not for everyone. This country was built by entrepreneurs – people who knew how to build things and how to fix things. When and why did we start under-estimating the worth and value of vocational careers, such as builders, plumbers, electricians, mechanics and truck drivers?
According to CNN, the number of apprenticeship programs in America from 2002 to 2015 has dropped to half.
