The American Civil Liberties Union has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration after reports that nationwide raids to round up thousands of undocumented immigrants facing deportation orders would begin Sunday.

President Trump announced last month that he would delay the roundup, which is set to target up to 2,000 families across major cities like Miami, Chicago, and Los Angeles.

The article goes on to state the following:

The ACLU argues in the lawsuit that due process requires those rounded up to be seen by an immigration judge prior to deportation.

In a Twitter post announcing the lawsuit, the ACLU declared, “BREAKING: In anticipation, of Trump’s #ICEraids, we’re filing a lawsuit to demand that immigrant families have a fair day in court. For many refugees, deportation is a death threat. No human should have to face that kind of peril without due process.”
