Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren have armies of 20-somethings and under canvassing throughout the early primary states to help their favorite candidate secure the Democratic nomination, Joe Biden’s volunteers at his Las Vegas, Nevada, phone bank were strikingly geriatric.

Around 50 supporters of the former vice president gathered at the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 396 Saturday morning to make phone calls to Democrats across the country and make the case for their favorite candidate on what the campaign called its “National Action Day.”

Yet, there was a rather lack of enthusiasm in the room, even as all the volunteers anxiously sat around waiting for Biden to walk through the door — so much so that the local organizer had to remind them “and the former vice president is coming … which is exciting.”
