Fox News host Chris Wallace slammed CNN White House correspondent Jim Acosta over a verbal altercation between Acosta and President Trump during a press conference.

Wallace, the host of Fox News Sunday, bashed Acosta for his behavior at Trump’s Tuesday press conference in India during an event later that evening with New York Times reporter Maggie Haberman put on by the Columbia Journalism School.

The article goes on to state the following:

“I was horrified by [Acosta],” Wallace explained. “It’s not our job to get in fights with presidents. It’s not our job to one-up presidents. It’s our job to report on presidents. … But to the degree we have responded to his attacks on us with attacks or advocacy in kind, there’s a huge mistake, and I think adds to people questioning the credibility of the media.”

Journalist Jeremy Barr reported from the event in the following Twitter posts:

Chris Wallace on the news vs. opinion-side division at Fox news:

Wallace: “There are clashes but really there aren’t. … There really isn’t a clash. They do their thing. I do my thing and I have the full backing of my executives at Fox News.”

Chris Wallace says that everyone has opinions.

Wallace: “Do I have an opinion of who I want to be the Democratic nominee? absolutely. Do I want that opinion in my reporting? No. … You try to the degree possible to take that out.”

Chris Wallace, who has criticized Jim Acosta in the past, said he was “horrified” by Acosta’s back-and-forth with Trump today. “It’s not our job to get in fights with presidents, it’s not our job to one-up the president.”

Maggie Haberman says “I agree with Chris” that reporters should not be fighting with Trump.
