Page Six reports:

Colin Kaepernick snuck into the city and made a surprise appearance Saturday at the Lower Eastside Girls Club on Avenue D.

The former quarterback with the big Afro and a big endorsement deal from Nike was back in headlines on Sunday after the San Francisco 49ers current quarterback, Jimmy Garoppolo, left the field with a season-ending knee injury.

The article goes on to state the following:

The Twitterverse exploded with calls for the team to give Kaepernick the job.

Kaepernick, wearing a T-shirt printed with the words, “I Know My Rights,” explained to a mostly minority, mostly female crowd that included LES native Rosario Dawson, why he started kneeling during the national anthem in 2016 — to draw attention to the Black Lives Matter movement.

CBS Sports reports:

So, as typically happens these days when a team has a quarterback opening, the coach was asked about one of the top available free agents: Colin Kaepernick. Of course, Kaepernick used to be with the 49ers, but he has been out of the NFL since the 2016 season after he began kneeling during the national anthem.

According to coach Kyle Shanahan, the 49ers are not interested in bringing Kaepernick back to the team. He says they had the discussion last year, but decided against it because he does not fit Shanahan’s offense. Instead, they’ll stick with [backup C.J.] Beathard for now.

  1. Anyone who does not respect the sacrifice paid for our freedoms will not get our support, respect or vote. We stand for the Flag, Anthem and America. We kneel for the Cross. And stand firm against those who don’t. Therefore we are boycotting Nike and the NFL.
