A University of Central Oklahoma football player lost his left foot in an accident early Sunday when he tried to crawl under a parked train in Oklahoma City and the train started moving, police reported.

Derek Loccident, 20, a redshirt freshman defensive back from Westmoore High School, attempted to crawl under a stopped train on railroad tracks at SW 4 and E.K. Gaylord Boulevard about 2:30 a.m. Sunday, police reported.

The train started moving and cut off Loccident’s foot, according to an Oklahoma City police report. Loccident flagged down a nearby person, who took him to OU Medical Center, police said. Someone at the scene found his foot and it was taken to doctors at the hospital, police reported.

The article goes on to state the following:

Loccident was listed in fair condition Monday afternoon, a hospital spokesman said.

The UCO Athletics Department released a statement on the accident.

“The University of Central Oklahoma Athletics Department wishes to extend its full support to the Loccident family following an accident involving Derek Loccident Sunday morning,” the statement reads.
