The less than credible New York Times published a story Wednesday claiming that former FBI Director James Comey told other members of the FBI as recently as two months ago that President Trump was “crazy” for suggesting he was wiretapped by Obama. It also states that Comey called Trump “outside the realm of normal.”
According to the report, President Trump became severely upset when Comey publicly refused to support the wiretapping allegations when appearing before the House Intelligence Committee in March 2017. During his testimony, Comey said the FBI had “no information” supporting the president’s claims of wiretapping by the Obama administration. According to the NY Times, this is what led to Trump wanting to fire Comey.
The NY Times claims that over the weekend President Trump told White House officials there was “something wrong with” Comey, who announced in March that the FBI was investigating Russia’s roll in the 2016 election, including possible ties between Russia and the Trump campaign.
According to the NY Times, the overly confident Comey told associates that he felt safe in his job, but if he was fired by Trump that it would result in people revisiting how he handled the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s email server.
