A host of Democratic attorneys general from across the country are vowing to sue the Trump administration for gutting President Barack Obama’s signature plan for reducing carbon emissions from coal plants.

The Environmental Protection Agency’s replacement of Obama’s Clean Power Plan, unveiled Wednesday, is a modest rule intended to encourage efficiency upgrades at coal plants to help them exist longer and emit less pollution, rather than encouraging utilities to switch to natural gas and renewables.

The article goes on to state the following:

Democratic states argue the plan, known as the Affordable Clean Energy or ACE rule, fails to meaningfully fulfill the bare-bones requirement of the federal Clean Air Act to reduce carbon emissions because it would keep coal plants alive that would otherwise retire.
